Respiratory Therapist
Location: Yarmouth

Facility: Yarmouth Regional Hospital

Type: Part-Time 80% (Average 60 hrs/pay period)

Position Scope:

Primary assignment is to provide clinical services to all patient-care areas of the hospital, including Surg/Med units, Pediatrics, Case Room/Nursery, OBS/Maternity, Recovery Room/Day Surgery, OPD/Emergency, Dialysis Unit and Intensive Care Unit.  May also be assigned duties in the Pulmonary Function Testing Lab, Asthma Clinic, COPD Clinic, Sleep Lab and visiting clinics at Roseway Hospital and/or Digby General Hospital.  In addition there may be other Respiratory Therapy duties such as needs assessments, patient or staff teaching and discharge planning, procedures range from simple oxygen and aerosol administration to CPR, mechanical ventilation and emergency transports. 

Required to work weekday, weekend, holiday and emergency-standby shifts as scheduled.  Must be readily available for emergency call-backs within 45 minutes.  Travel to other sites within the District may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy
  • Must be certified to practice Respiratory Therapy in Nova Scotia (registered with the CSRT or be registry-eligible)
  • Must maintain annual membership with both the CSRT and the RTSNS
  • CPR BLS-C within the last two years
