MSNU, Children's Neurosciences, Surgical and Rehabilitation Care, Children's Health Program

Position Summary: The Medical/Surgical Neurosciences Unit (MSNU) provides care for children with cardiac disease and multiple surgical populations, including Urology, Cardiac Care, Orthopedics, Dentistry, Cleft Palate, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology in a program-based care model for children of all ages up to 16 years of age.  The Staff Nurse is responsible and accountable for the application of current theory and practice in the delivery of family centred nursing care consistent with the philosophy, objectives, mission and vision of the IWK Health Centre.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required (candidates with commensurate experience and education will be considered).
• Registered, or eligible to be registered, with CRNNS required. 
• Current BCLS certification required.
• Minimum one (1) year pediatric nursing experience preferred.
• Recent orthopedic experience preferred.
• Recent pediatric surgical nursing skills preferred.
• Recent pediatric cardiac nursing skills preferred.
• Recent neurosciences nursing skills preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with families and other health care team members required.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and practice required.
• Demonstrated strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated sound judgment and independent decision making skills required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Family Centred Care required.
• Competency in other languages an asset; French, preferred.

Salary:     $27.8296-$32.5231/Hour
