Working within your full scope of practice the Medical Registered Nurse will be responsible to the Nurse Manager, Medicine/Med/Surg Floats for providing skilled nursing care for acutely ill medical patients in a medical care unit in accordance with the standards of the Nursing Program, and Mission, Vision and Values of the organization. Position to commence as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
Salary and Benefits as per current N.S.N.U Collective Agreement.
The successful candidate will join a diverse and progressive team of nurses, physicians and other allied professionals providing quality healthcare in Annapolis Valley Health.
Qualifications:
- Registered in the Province of Nova Scotia;
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support;
- Recent (within five years) relevant care of acutely ill medical patients, demonstrating organizational and assessment skills
- Recent experience in the care and management of patients with acute coronary syndromes including:
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring
- 12-lead ECG and basic rhythm interpretation
- Current pharmacology related to management of infarcts, heart failure, and coronary syndromes.
- Care and management of patients with acute coronary syndromes requiring cardiac monitoring, care of temporary pacemaker, current pharmacology related to management of infarcts, congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease in general.
- Available to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
- Demonstrated effective ability in oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated abilities in: Team building/Leadership/Critical thinking/Working in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Self motivated. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Skillful in applying the nursing process in patient care.
- Ability to promote/maintain good interpersonal relations in dealing with patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
- Demonstrates planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment.
- Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment.
- Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
Preference Will Be Given To Candidates With:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing;
