Job Title: Security Consultant - Maritimes (St.John's, Halifax, Fredericton or Moncton)

Business Unit: Professional Services

Accountability:

Accountable for providing Allstream clients with the security services, recommendations and solutions that enable them to effectively manage their security risks as relates to their information assets.
Key responsibilities & measurements:

Work as part of Allstream Professional Services team in the successful delivery of a variety of security projects, including: 

• Compliance assessments and recommendations against ISO 17799/ 27001/27002, GoC MITS, PCI, COBIT,  ITIL
• Security Architectural Review and Design
• Security Policy, Procedures and Standards Review and Development
• Threat and Risk Assessments
• Network Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Tests
• Application Security Assessments
• Privacy Impact Assessments
• Development of Education and awareness programs
• Training preparation and delivery

Participate and contribute to the group's growth through:

• Assisting in the development of proposals, their responses and pricing to clients' needs
• Supporting sales team with pre-sales presentations of relevant security professional services offerings to ensure the proper service selection and/or scope to clients
• Creating and presenting technical content seminars and presentations such as lunch and learns when needed
• Participation in managing the lifecycle of existing and new Professional Services offerings to maintain their alignment to our clients' requirements.

Key Competencies & Skills:

• Depth of IT Security experience that spans the network, application and organizational layers of the IT security stack
• Strong understanding and ability to interpret and communicate Risk Management concepts
• Knowledge of the threats faced by most organizations with respect to tangible and intangible property, and the safeguards that can be employed to address them
• Proficient with IT Security practices and standards, familiar with common frameworks for information security such as ISO 17799/27001/27002, GoC MITS, PCI, COBIT and ITIL
• Knowledge and experience the business continuity is desirable
• Proficient in network security and internetworking technology protocols and applications

Qualifications (Education & Essential Work Experience):

• Completion of a university degree or information technology (technical) diploma from a recognized education institution is required
• At least 5 years experience in an IT environment with at least 3 years in Information Security is required.
• Experience in a consulting capacity is desired
• Professional designations such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, and CBCP are desired
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills including report writing
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Ability to be a team player with a client service orientation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Ability to lead people within project settings

Past experience in conducting as many of the following is desired:

• Security Architecture
• Security Policy, Practices and Standards
• Compliance assessments
• Threat and Risk Assessments
• Network Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing
• Application Security Assessments
• Privacy Impact Assessments
• Education and awareness programs
