Our client, based at Saint Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, is one of six National Collaborating Centres for Public Health created by the Public Health Agency of Canada in 2006. Focused on the practice of public health, the NCCDH will facilitate the sharing of knowledge to better include evidence about the determinants of health in policy and public health practice decisions at all levels of the public health system across Canada.
Reporting to the Scientific Director, the Managing Director is a key member of the senior team of the NCCDH accountable to manage the planning implementation and the evaluation of collaborative knowledge synthesis translation and exchange activities in emerging priority determinants of health including early child development. Working proactively and in consultation with the Scientific Director, you will manage all aspects of the NCCDH including day-to-day implementation, maintenance management of personnel and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
As the ideal candidate you possess extensive experience in program management, including knowledge of planning frameworks and methodologies, solid experience and skills in consultation and facilitation of diverse partner/collaborator interests and interpretation of assessment and project results, complemented by a Masters Degree in Pubic Administration or a related health profession.
Knowledge of theory and research relevant to the determinants of health, public health practice and knowledge synthesis, translation and exchange of research evidence would be an asset. This Managing Director position has been recently extended to March 31, 2010.
