Overall Objective and purpose
This candidate must be able to provide leadership for Business Intelligence and Master Data Warehouse related projects and activities led by Enterprise Architecture and drive strategic business intelligence efforts. The candidate must also have hands on experience in dimensional modeling and data warehouse management.
Primary Accountabilities:
The primary responsibility is for designing and implementing business intelligence solution using the technology of Business Objects XI and IBM Information Server (Data Stage).
The Architect must possess excellent problem solving and communication skills. The individual must be flexible, dependable, capable of multi-tasking, and quickly learning complex technical concepts.
Excellent service orientation and expert technical skills in the application of:
- Both ER and Dimensional Modeling techniques
- Working with hybrid data warehouse implementations
- Data Warehouse, Data Mart and Business Intelligence architecture and technologies
- Data Quality and Cleansing Management
- Metadata management, design and integration
- Data Architecture Process Standards
The Senior Architect will have an advanced understanding of:
- Java/J2EE applications and Enterprise Data Modeling
- Working with legacy data sources (C, C++, XML..)
- Modeling existing system processes and data flows
- Data Warehouse Extract Transform,
- Database and Analytic Processing Systems
- IBM Information Server technologies including DataStage and MetaStage
- Business Objects XI Web-Intelligence
- OLAP Technologies
Job Duties:
The role of the Business Intelligence (BI) Architect is to drive the efficient use of existing data assets in support of business and growth objectives. This role is responsible for building business intelligence and reporting architecture that help business users' access and analyze data in a data warehouse, data mart, or operational system. The BI Architect provides technical leadership and thought leadership for the design and development of Enterprise Reporting and Information Delivery Systems. The Architect must be capable of solving complex technical problems, as well as communicate technical concepts to audiences with mixed levels of technical & business abilities. When making technical and architectural decisions independently, this candidate must have the ability to not only make sound decisions, but to communicate the effect of those decisions to the broader audience.
The BI Architect must be able to leverage his/her team, and it will be crucial that this candidate be able to mentor/coach other IT resources - as well as develop strong, effective partnerships with mission critical technology vendors & industry thought leaders.
The primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for designing and implementing business intelligence reporting solution using the technology of Business Objects XI and IBM Information Server (Data Stage)
- Define and create a secure user access model in Business Object environment that meet our business partners needs.
- Document BO universe and report design and ensure the documentation is maintained throughout the course of project lifecycle.
- Provide technical design and integration specification for off-shore development resources.
- Share technical guidance and best practices with team members in order to accelerate the migration efforts.
- Provide unit testing of the developed IT solutions. Also participate in integration testing.
- Provide application deep support (ie. level 4 support) on the developed IT solutions
- Work with business teams to understand their requirement and to create suitable solutions for new or enhanced capabilities.
- Help ensure system enhancements and fixes are developed, tested, deployed according to requirements
- supports and improves the effectiveness of marketing efforts through the use of behavioral and demographic data.
Education and Requirements:
- 4 year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience,
- More than 3 years of data architecture experience
- Hands-on experience in relational database, warehouse and data mart architecture, data modeling, database design, (logical, physical), high availability and disaster recovery
