Is currently recruiting for a
Marine HVAC Technologist
Irving Shipbuilding Inc's primary office is located at the Halifax Shipyard with other locations in the Maritime Provinces. The company has been carrying out ship repair, building quality ships and fabricated modules for over 100 yrs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Review and comment on design agent drawings as they pertain to HVAC piping systems and controls
- Review of design agent bills of material, design standards and applicable codes.
- Prepare HVAC specifications
- Working with 2D AutoCad drawings and within a 3D model environment
- Research and liaise with HVAC vendors in order to provide Vendor Furnished Information as required by the design agent
- Perform technical evaluation of proposed HVAC equipment and systems
- Identify design/build issues working with design agent engineers and production
Experience & Education Requirements – Knowledge & Skills:
- Diploma in Marine-Mechanical Engineering Technologist or equivalent
- 5-10 years experience in a Marine related environment with knowledge of vessel HVAC equipment and systems
- Experience in HVAC thermal load calculations, sizing, and duct layout
- Familiar with Classification Society Rules
- Familiar with Flag Requirements
- Familiar with Class Certificates and/or Type Approvals
- Shipyard experience a plus
