Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Tax Specialist will be responsible for Canadian and US corporate income tax risk management, income tax compliance and tax planning. The Tax Specialist will manage the daily tax activities to perform the tax reporting function and have in-depth involvement with any acquisitions or divestitures.
He/she will develop and maintain strong relationships with internal finance teams and external consultants and take the lead role in coordinating tax audits with government representatives. He/she will also prepare tax reporting packages and resolve various issues and will work with external advisors to provide effective planning to minimize tax burden.
Responsibilities will include preparation of period tax returns (sales & use as well as corporate income tax in Canada and the US), supporting multiple business units in the construction industry, performing internal and external reviews, coordinating audits with government representatives. Responsibilities also include performing transaction tax research and analysis, monitoring system tax interfaces, and conducting sales/use tax training for internal personnel.
The successful candidate will have a recognized accounting designation and will have completed, or be near completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Course.
