Policy and Research Analysts

(One permanent position, one contractual (one-year) position with possibility for renewal)

The Maritime Provinces Higher Education is looking to fill two (2) Policy and Research Analyst positions.

The following reflects the range of responsibilities of the positions:

  • Carry out the monitoring of institutional quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Perform academic program assessments
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, particularly in the area of quality assurance
  • Conduct research projects independently and provide the Commission with timely advice and analysis
  • Apply qualitative analytical skills in the areas of research/policy development and quality assurance
  • Conduct quantitative analysis (one position only)
  • Write various documents (minutes, reports, analyses), often for publication
  • Plan and manage project teams/working groups; plan and manage the work of consultants
  • Respond to requests for information from the public within area of expertise
  • Support the work of Committees, as assigned
  • May involve travel

Candidates must have a graduate degree (thesis/research-based degree) with typically a few years of research and/or policy experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, be self-directed and goal-oriented. Ideally, the candidate will possess a good understanding of the post-secondary environment. The successful candidate must work well in a highly specialized team environment. An ability to function effectively in both official languages is a requirement for one position, while being an asset for the other position. Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills are a requirement for one position. An ability to manage multiple long-term projects with day-to-day activities along with tight deadlines is key. Strong analytical abilities are required for both positions.

Candidates must demonstrate in their cover letter how they have acquired the skills and qualifications for one of these positions and their curriculum vitae should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years.
