Marine Shipyard Engineering Representative
Irving Shipbuilding Inc's primary office is located at the Halifax Shipyard with other locations in the Maritime Provinces. The company has been carrying out ship repair, building quality ships and fabricated modules for over 100 yrs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clearly and concisely communicate the needs of the shipyard to the design agent. This work will cover a wide variety of ship systems, equipment selection, systems design, and regulatory analysis.
- Identify design/build issues working with design agent engineers, shipyard engineers and production
- International travel is required
Experience & Education Requirements – Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent
- 5 to 10 years of work experience at a shipyard or design agency
- Familiar with Classification Rules and Flag Requirements
- Familiar with Class Certificates and/or Type Approvals
- Special expertise in structural design and how it relates to the shipyard construction strategy
- Capability working with AutoCAD and experience with Tribon 3D modeling and analysis would be helpful.
- Project management skills, requiring a highly motivated individual who can determine what needs to be done and sets priorities
