Maintenance Manager
We are currently seeking applications for the position of Maintenance Manager from qualified individuals looking for a rewarding and challenging opportunity. Previous experience in road building, mining or heavy civil construction would be a definite asset.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the day to day management of the multi-shift maintenance department including:
- Set maintenance department goals on an annual basis
- Prioritizing repairs to ensure efficient operation
- Maintain high standards of vehicle reliability, efficiency, cleanliness and safety
- Ensure and recommend adequate staffing levels for a multi-shift operation
- Ensure that preventive maintenance is accurately and consistently being completed and tracked
- Co-ordinate with outside vendors on critical mechanical problems
- Provide guidance, training and direction for subordinates and employees for department training requirements and future advancement
- Oversee the effective and efficient running of the purchasing department
- Maintain detailed accurate records of work and projects carried out
- Ensure that there is organized and adequate information on equipment(ie. manuals, equipment, files, etc.)
- Ensure that proper inventory, including spares, is kept in stock
- Excellent management skills and techniques
- Knowledge of the hazards associated with a shop environment and how to correct them. Assure safe and efficient use of shop equipment and supplies
- Proven ability to deal well with people at all levels
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Must be willing to start early, work overtime and weekends if required
Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance management experience in a heavy equipment or industrial environment.
- At least 7 – 10 years experience in a similar management position.
- High school diploma, or equivalent, with some post-secondary education and/or experience in the heavy duty mechanical and welding field.
- Related courses in Hydraulics, lubrication, bearing failure, etc., would be an asset.
- Computer skills regarding preventative maintenance program would be considered an asset.
