River Valley Health has an immediate opportunity for a temporary full-time (to May 2009) Registered Nurse with the Extra-Mural Program, Woodstock Unit.

As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and families throughout the life span within the Extra-Mural Program North. Extensive travel throughout the region is required.

Qualifications:

• Active registration with NANB
• Minimum 2 years recent general medical/surgical, palliative care and wound care nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Current BCLS certification
• Demonstrated competency in performing phlebotomy and initiating and caring for client's intravenous therapy
• Demonstrated ability in caring for central and peripheral lines
• Demonstrated assessment skills in caring for patients of all ages in the home setting during various stages of illness (i.e. acute, chronic and palliative)
• Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently in a changing work environment
• Demonstrated teaching, communication, interpersonal and team-building skills
• A requirement for the use of EMP fleet vehicles is the possession and maintenance of a valid driver's licence and proof of an excellent driving record
