Duties: Instructors will conduct a skills training program to certify and qualify employees for required knowledge and skills proficiency levels in the area of security. They will teach vocational training security subjects to students in industrial training centers or industrial plants. They will organize training programs of practical and technical instruction, including demonstrations of skills required in the security trade, lectures on theory, techniques and terminology. They will instruct students in the subject areas of security; use and maintenance of equipment, codes, and regulations related to the security trade as well as health and safety. They will plan and supervise the work of students, individually or in small groups; in classroom or in work places. They will administer assessments and evaluate achievement of students in technical knowledge and skills. Instructors may place students in on-the-job training. Instructors must be willing to work a flexible schedule. All instructors are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.
Qualifications: Appropriate degrees (with relevant major) and designations as prescribed by professional and academic associations pertinent to post-secondary education are definite assets (CPP, ASP, CFE, CISSP or other related professional certificates). Relevant industry experience and certification is essential for all technical instructors (TSA, CATSA, MARSEC, ICOA or other industry specific certificates). Military and police experience is desirable. Instructors must demonstrate successful teaching experiences and provide evidence of professional growth and development. Successful candidates must possess exemplary communication skills and fluency in English is essential. The ability to establish effective working relationships and a strong commitment to working in a team and student-centered learning environment are required.
