Volunteer: Volunteer Interviewers
Fifteen thousand, eight hundred and sixteen hellos and bonjours
And 10,000 helping hands. We need you, and all of your friends, in just one short year to help put on the largest multi-sport event that Halifax has ever hosted. More than 5,000 volunteers will be needed from February 11-27, 2011 to form the backbone of the Games. From IT Services, to Mascot Support to Athlete Village Operations – there's something for everyone.
The Volunteer Interviewer will conduct pre-screening interviews for Canada Games volunteer applicants, following a structured, competency-based interview process. Each interview is conducted via telephone and is completed in approximately 10-15 minutes. Volunteer interviewers will also input interview results into an online volunteer applicant tracking system.
Applicants should offer excellent communication skills, including the ability to actively listen, ask probing questions to gather information, and to write notes. Bilingualism, in English and French, and prior experience conducting interviews are assets for this role.
Volunteer interviewers are needed to cover shifts in the evenings as well as on Saturdays of each week from now until October, 2010. We are asking for a minimum commitment of one three-hour shift per week. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please apply by contacting Erin Joudrey, Volunteer Coordinator, via erin.joudrey@canadagames2011.ca.
We are a welcoming and supportive workplace and applicants from the following groups are encouraged to self-identify when applying for this opportunity: Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, African Nova Scotians and other racially visible persons.
