Our client, a large and well respected organization, has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Application Database Administrator.

The Senior Application Database Administrator (DBA) will work with the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of application databases.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for supporting, installing, configuring, upgrade  and implementation of Oracle Application Databases
• Monitoring ,  optimizing and tuning for performance of Oracle Databases ( 1TB+ ) and application level, expert in SQL tuning and rewrites
• Design and implement back-up and recovery processes using; export / import, hot backup, cold backup, remote duplicate database and logical (RMAN), and physical standby data base (Data Guard).
• Design and document disaster recovery procedures and aligned to enterprise strategies 
• Proactively determine future growth of the application in the areas of database size, number of end-users and application functionality. Translate these growth parameters into future capacity requirements and architect appropriate hardware, operating system and software solutions.
• Coordinate, assist and advise in project implementation strategies which utilize large / complicated DB's

Skills

• Knowledge and experience of using Oracle RAC and Data Guard is an asset 
• At least 5 years working experience in Oracle RDBMS administration and implementation experience
• Database monitoring and tuning, application and queries using EXPLAIN PLAN, TKPROF, OEM, STATSPACK, DBMS_STAT and SQL_TRACE 
• Excellent knowledge on configuration, setup and upgrade on Version 9i IAS, 10g IAS, 11i on Unix & NT operating systems
• Strong Knowledge of SQL , Pl/SQL , RMAN 
• Strong Knowledge of LINUX  installation and Shell Programming 
• Must have working experience with performance tuning tools, using Oracle Enterprise Manager , or similar 
• An asset to have knowledge of MS SQL 2005/2008 
• Possesses good analytical skills. Very detail oriented for complex problem solving.

Education

• University degree in Computer Science or related discipline 
• Oracle training and certification such as Oracle 11g DBA OCM or OCP and Linux Administrator OCA is an asset.
