Miramichi Regional Health Authority is located in Miramichi, New Brunswick. The City of Miramichi is not only known for world renown salmon fishing on the Miramichi River but also its beautiful landscapes, salt water beaches, genuine hospitality and most importantly, its quality of life.
Miramichi Regional Health Authority serves a population of 56,000 and operates
the newest state-of-the-art acute care Miramichi Regional Hospital, four health
centers located in surrounding communities, and the Extra Mural Program, a unique
and innovative program in New Brunswick, which provides nursing and associated
health-care services to patients in their homes. It employs approximately 1,000
staff that practices a team-approach whereby all disciplines actively participate
in the patient's care.

Goals
The 183-bed hospital provides a full compliment of medical specialists and offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. It is considered to be a leader in technology and was the first hospital in the Atlantic Provinces to have complete digital imaging capabilities in its diagnostic imaging department. It was also the first in Canada to have its patient care units equipped with a Smart Link nurse locator system that allows better response time from nurses to the patients. The Miramichi
Regional Hospital is an accredited institution and presently has a 3-year accreditation
status. Accreditation is a process by which the Canadian Council of Health Services
Accreditation rates the hospital on a variety of levels, mostly patient satisfaction.
The Hospital Corporation has consistently received the highest accreditation status
possible. (Baie-Ste-Anne, Blackville, Neguac, Rogersville) The four Health Centers located in Baie Ste.-Anne, Blackville, Néguac and Rogersville provide community based primary health care to their communities. Other health-related agencies located in the Health Centers include Public Health, Mental Health, clinical nutrition staff and dentists. The
four Health Centers operate with one full-time physician, a registered nurse,
clerical, and other appropriate support staff. They are open Monday to Friday
excluding statutory holidays.
