About the NSCSA
The Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association is an ISO 9001:2000 certified not for profit association, owned and managed by the construction industry in Nova Scotia. The NSCSA provides a broad range of Occupational Health and Safety training, advisor and audit services to more than 4700 employer members within the NS construction industry.
Our Successes
- A 69 per cent decrease in the number of construction accidents per $1 million of assessable payroll.
- Over 180,000 participants in NSCSA safety and audit training programs since 1994.
- More than 2,300 Nova Scotia firms have earned the NSCSA Certificate of Recognition, which purchasers of construction services increasingly demand.
- Lost time accidents have decreased from 1,224 in 1993 (the year before the NSCSA began operating) to 762 in 2007, despite an increase in assessable payroll from $439 to $803 million.
- Donated $185,000 in online safety training to high school students in Nova Scotia, with over 6,200 students participating since 2002.
- Ongoing partnerships with government and industry representatives which improve safety awareness and performance in the construction industry.
