Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation is the largest multi-facility, accredited, Regional Health Authority in New Brunswick, Canada. AHCS is comprised of 12 hospitals and health centres, serving a regional population of 200,000. This progressive health authority offers a wide range of basic through to tertiary level health care services delivered by a dedicated staff of 4400 employees and 415 (active) physicians. The core competencies of AHSC are patient care, education and research. AHSC is a designated campus of the "Dalhousie University Post Graduate Medical Education Program" as well as the "School of Radiological Technology", and has an active "Research Services Division". Twenty-one clinical programs are delivered through inpatient, emergency, ambulatory and community/home care settings. Saint John is the primary referral centre for the people of this region and, in a number of tertiary services, for people throughout the province. |

Saint John is a thriving industrial centre situated at the mouths of the Saint John and Kennebecasis Rivers, on the scenic Bay of Fundy. The City of Saint John boasts excellent educational (both French and English) and cultural facilities, including a campus of the University of New Brunswick, which offers a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The town of Sussex, a cosy rural community, is located 45 minutes east of Saint John. It is centrally located between New Brunswick's three major cities (Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton), and is known as the home of the Poley Mountain Ski Resort. In recent years, Sussex has made the list of one of the top places to live in Canada. AHSC's facility, the Sussex Health Centre is located here. The community of St. Stephen is approximately one hour and thirty minutes west of Saint John, on the Canada-US border. St. Stephen boasts excellent canoeing, whale and bird watching, fishing, and many other recreational activities. The town is just 7 hours by car to Boston, 6 hours to Halifax, and 12 hours to Montreal.
